Charles ‘Chuck’ Sherwin, a resident of Roseburg passed away on May 9, 2016 at the age of 60. He was born in Oxnard, California on September 8, 1955. At the age of 12 he and his mother, Muriel Sherwin, moved to Sutherlin after the passing of his father. When he was 18, his mother also passed. Chuck began his family with the birth of a daughter, Carlie. He worked as a handyman at Douglas County Forest Products in Winchester. In 1989 he met Beverly Schmidt and he began a long courtship and finally in 1997 they were married. Along with his new wife came a son, Justin Leroue. For their honeymoon they went to Australia where he began scuba diving, even diving off the Great Barrier Reef with sharks. He was a Harley owner and belonged to an owners group, spending many miles on the road. He loved to camp, fish and spending time on the coast. His bucket list included going to Mexico, which he crossed off a few times. While in Mexico he went to the ruins at Chichen Itza and Tulum. January of 2015 changed Chuck and Bev’s life when he became disabled from ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). He loved his family and is survived by his wife, two children, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A viewing and celebration of life will be held at Helleck Hall at River Forks Park on Sunday, May 15, 2016 from 1pm to 4pm. All are welcome. Please bring a potluck item to share.
