Gene Elliott Obituary

Gene Edward Elliott, was born on September 9, 1948, in Arkansas City, Kansas.  He was the son of Paul & Virginia Elliott.  He passed away on January 26, 2026 from congestive heart failure at the age of 77 in Roseburg, OR

Gene married Catherine (Cathy) Riedel on February 25, 1969 in Great Bend, KS. They had two sons, Heath and Joseph Elliott.

The family moved from Kansas to Oregon in 1987 where Gene worked in the timber industry before taking over a barber shop in Myrtle Creek, OR where he retired. Gene enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and hobbies that included grilling out, hunting, fishing and camping on the Oregon coast where he was a camp host in Coos Bay, OR.

He worked a myriad of jobs including Owner/Operator trash service, roughneck in the oil fields, custom gunsmith, taxidermist, security guard at local community college, where he also ran concession stands for sporting events; and retired as a professional barber.

Gene was pre-deceased by his wife, Cathy on November 21,2020.

He is survived by his brother, Don Elliott of Great Bend, KS, his sons, Heath Elliott of Myrtle Creek, OR and Joseph Elliott with daughter-in-law, Lisa and granddaughter, Cassandra of Clarksville, TN. 

The family of Gene Elliott extends their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and support care staff of Mercy Hospice and Umpqua Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their great care over the past few years and those who made his final days more comfortable.  Also, thank you to everyone for the visits and prayers leading up to his passing.
