Jann Elizabeth Boyter

Jann Elizabeth Boyter, age 56, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away peacefully but unexpectedly in her sleep on July 23rd, 2026.

Jann was born on April 6th, 1970, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Lloyd and Norma (Olund) Lycan. She graduated from Columbia River High School in Vancouver, Washington in 1988. On December 29th, 1989, she married Jeffrey Duane Boyter in the Portland Oregon Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, beginning a marriage that would span thirty-six years.

Education was Jann’s calling. She attended Great Falls College and Brigham Young University, earning a degree in elementary education in 1993, and she later completed a master’s degree in elementary education at the University of Phoenix in 2006. Though teaching was close to her heart, she treasured motherhood above all, stepping away from the classroom for ten years to raise her two boys at home. She returned to teaching and, over twenty-two years, shaped the lives of hundreds of students.

A devoted wife and mother and a faithful member of her church, Jann treasured time with her large extended family. She loved sewing, quilting, and baking; she was known for the cinnamon rolls she made every Christmas, and in recent years she perfected the art of baking sourdough bread.

Jann was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Norma Lycan, and by her daughter-in-law, Mackenzie (Powell) Boyter.

She is survived by her husband, Jeff; sons Hayden and Curtis; sisters Susan Stamper and Kara Lycan; brother Jeff Lycan; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 8th, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2001 West Bertha Avenue, Roseburg, Oregon. Jann will be laid to rest at Roseburg National Cemetery in Roseburg, Oregon.
