Joe Wesley Reed, age 81, passed away on September 7, 2026. Born on October 9, 1944, Joe lived a life marked by hard work, generosity, craftsmanship, and an unwavering devotion to family and friends.
Joe was a man of integrity, quiet strength, and remarkable talent. An exceptional leather craftsman, he created pieces that will be treasured for generations. His saddles, photo albums, and hand-carved leather creations reflected not only his skill and attention to detail, but also the pride he took in his work. Many people throughout the community proudly own and cherish items crafted by Joe. He generously shared his talents as well, donating many of his handcrafted pieces to support local rodeos and community events.
Joe was known as someone who could fix just about anything. Family, friends, and neighbors knew they could count on him when something needed to be repaired, built, or solved. He rarely hesitated to lend a hand, often putting the needs of others before his own. Joe expressed his love not through words alone, but through acts of service, helping those around him and giving thoughtful gifts that reflected his caring nature and generous spirit.
Family was at the center of Joe's life. He took tremendous pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, finding joy in their accomplishments and in the time spent together. His legacy of hard work, kindness, perseverance, and selflessness will continue through the generations that follow him.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Chuck and Marie Reed; his beloved wife, Linda (Hockett) Reed; and his brother, Don Reed.
He is survived by his daughter, Jill Reed; and his son, David Reed. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Jessica Montgomery (Jason), Rachel Brock (Alan), Sara Hukel, Cole Reed, and Grace Reed. Joe was blessed with great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy: Alexis, Ryan, and Charlie Montgomery, and Emma Brock.
Joe is also survived by his sister-in-law, Ann Reed; his special friend, Cheryl Brown Upp; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will continue to honor and celebrate his memory.
Those who knew Joe will remember his steady presence, his willingness to help whenever needed, and the care he showed through his actions. Whether he was crafting a leather keepsake, repairing something that seemed beyond fixing, supporting a local rodeo, or simply being there for someone who needed him, Joe left a lasting impression on the lives he touched.
His family takes comfort in knowing that Joe's legacy lives on in the beautiful things he created, the lessons he taught, and the love he shared so freely. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
"A life measured not by what was gained, but by what was given, leaves a legacy that lasts forever."
