Leonard Leroy Willard, 68, passed away on May 19, 2020, at his daughter-in-law's home in Roseburg, Oregon.
A private Celebration of Life will be with just the family.
Leonard was born 2/20/53 in Bakersfield, CA to Faye Bowman Willard and Roy Willard. Leonard was the youngest of five children. He has two brothers, Bob and Gene Willard and twin sisters, Barbara (deceased) and Belva Willard. His father was an accomplished carpenter and built the home in which Leonard was raised.
Leonard grew up Oildale, a suburb of Bakersfield, and graduated from North High School in 1971. He met and married Adrianne Mackey, retired RN, in 1995, becoming part of a large extended family.
Leonard is survived by his wife Adrianne, his daughter-in-law Jennifer Peters and daughter-in-law Shirley Valdivia and husband Joseph Valdivia. He had six beloved grandchildren: Aaron Valdivia 26, Evan Valdivia 25, Bryce Valdivia 21, Mariah Pletcher 22, Fallon Peters 21, and Carson Peters 19. Leonard loved spending time with his wife and grandkids and took many memorable camping trips with them.
For anyone who knew Leonard they were aware of his love for photography. He took many beautiful pictures throughout his life.
Leonard was encouraged by his wife Adrianne to further his education and he earned his BS in computer science. Leonard followed his degree with a teaching credential and began his long career as a substitute teacher.
In 2008, Leonard and Adrianne relocated to Crescent City, CA. He began subbing for the Del Norte School District and spent many happy years being a favored teacher among his students.
Leonard was also known for his love of animals and left behind two dogs, Tilly and Lucky, and his cat, Gabby.
Leonard will be missed greatly by all who knew him and will always be remembered with love.
