Mary Frances Corum, age 91, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away at her daughter’s home on Feb. 12, 2025. She was born Jan. 5, 1934, in Seminole County, Oklahoma, to Carlos and Ola Mae Hicks. She joined two other sisters and spent a few years there before moving to sunny California where she graduated high school in Modesto.
As a young woman she met an Army serviceman, Danny Courm, whom she married in Modesto. Their young family found employment and grew to include one daughter and two sons in California. They moved to Camas Valley where she worked as a school librarian keeping an eye on her kids and countless valley children.
After her kids all moved out, she and Danny bought a tree farm in Tenmile. They loved selling trees to the families of the area, making the holidays bright. After formal retirement, they moved to Roseburg. Never one to sit idle, she loved to have her hands in the dirt, having a garden was an important thing to her.
Her family continued to expand with each generation, and she loved them all. Mary and Danny enjoyed life together and will be laid to rest at Roseburg National Cemetery. She leaves a legacy of love and her family; three children Danny Corum, Kerry (Alicia) Corum and Pam (Dennis) Bellis. She also leaves 12 grandchildren Shannon (Doug), Eric (Larissa), Sandi (Jessie), Lisa, Ian (Lacy), Danielle (Andy), Drew (Krystal), Chad, Kira, Shea (Chrissy), Breanna (Zac), Andres (Charlie), as well as 22 great-grandchildren Rachelle (Dan) Tyler, Ashlynn, Paislee, MacKenzie, Nick, Brynn, Allie, Keenan, Isaiah, Ronan, Everly, Wesley, Brooklyn, Bailey, Riley, Hayden, Attreyu, Rahza, Castihl, with a new baby boy Corum on his way, and four great-great-grandchildren Rylynn, Marley, Jaelyn and Gracelyn.
“To the moon and back.”
